Tenancy rights of cultivators in Bihar are governed by the state tenancy law. A person cultivating land without being recorded may obtain a record of cultivation, and security of tenure against eviction is available to recognised tenants; the correct register and forum should be confirmed with the revenue office.

Important condition: Tenancy protection depends on the cultivator's status and the date of cultivation, which are judged on records and local enquiry.
