Who is responsible
Small culverts and bridges on ODR and village roads are maintained by the Rural Works Department through its subdivisional offices, while larger structures on state highways come under RCD. A blocked or collapsed culvert is a road defect, so reporting it with the exact location lets the engineer inspect it.
Important condition: The department that owns a structure depends on the road it carries: verify whether the road is a village road, ODR, MDR or a state highway before reporting.
