Public safety, policing and emergency routes.

  1. Police or safety problem — I need helpA general police complaint — we ask one question so you reach the police station, the cyber cell, or the emergency number immediately.
  2. Police station refused to register my FIRThe police station refused to write your complaint or to register an FIR; the law requires an FIR for a cognizable offence, and a written refusal can be escalated.
  3. Police took the complaint but is not actingAn FIR or complaint exists but investigation is stalled; the Superintendent of Police supervises the station and can be asked to review it.
  4. Threat, stalking or harassment outside homeSomeone threatens, follows, or harasses you outside your home; this needs an immediate police complaint, not only a grievance.
  5. Online fraud, fake call or OTP scamYou lost money to an OTP call, a fake app or a payment fraud; report on the national helpline 1930 within the golden hour and then on the portal.
  6. Person missing or child not foundA family member or child is missing; an immediate report to the police station starts the trace, and a missing-person portal entry follows it.
  7. Illegal liquor or illegal mining in my areaLiquor is being sold or made illegally, or sand or minerals are being dug illegally nearby; these go to the police, the excise department and the mining department.
  8. Traffic police dispute or challan on the spotA traffic policeman has stopped you and there is a dispute about the offence or the challan; do not argue on the road, ask for the challan and challenge it.
  9. Custodial beating or death, or police atrocityA person was beaten in custody, or someone died in police custody; this goes to the human rights commissions and senior police beyond the station.
  10. Passport police verification pendingYour passport application is held because the police verification has not been done; check the file number and visit the police station.
  11. Fire broke out — building, crop or vehicleA fire is burning right now: call 112 first with the exact location, then alert the nearest fire station.
