Who is responsible
Public streets, their drainage and lighting are the responsibility of the urban local body under the Bihar Municipal Act, and the ward councillor is the elected representative who raises the matter in the ward committee. An illegal structure on a road, or repeated illegal parking, is removed only after a report and inspection.
Important condition: Where the road is inside a gram panchayat rather than a municipal limit, the Gram Panchayat handles the road and not the municipal office.
